Practice intentionally and incrementally.
My music teachers used to say "precise, persistent and particular practice makes perfect."
I called it the "Three Ps" of practice.
You don't need to practice for hours to get good. You just need to practice effectively. As a classical vocalist, I learned that you don't need to practice for hours. 15-45 minutes is enough if you practice the "Three Ps". Eventually, your body will get stronger and you can practice longer without losing focus.
And that's the key, to practice good technique so that your body can sustain the movement longer.
Remember, it's not who can dance the fastest, but you can dance the longest. I'm not talking about one weekend.
I'm talking about the rest of your life.
If you need extra help, we also offer online private sessions for as short as 15 minutes up to an hour.
Learn to listen to the music deeply.
Take some of the concepts that we talk about in our classes and really apply them to other songs that you like. See if you can dig deeper into the music. The best way to do this is to sit down and try to mark down what interests you. If you don't know how to do this, our musicality classes will give you insight on how to do so.
Enjoy the process together!
We are all traveling down the same road in tango. We are all learning variations of the same lessons. Some struggle more than others but we are in it together. Sharing tango is not just about the connections we have on the dance floor. Especially in this time, having an experience of learning together keeps us all connected.
So, if we can't share a connection through our embrace, we can at least share a connection through the music.
